RARE 1800’s LARGE GLAZED STONEWARE PITCHER ADVERTISING KIRK, FOSTER & CO. WHOLESALE GROCERS & IMPORTERS PHILADELPHIA ON FRONT WITH SPOUT AND HANDLE CROCK MADE BY BURLEY WINTER POTTERY CO. This is a a rare antique glazed stoneware pitcher with spout & handle that advertises for a company out of Philadelphia on the front. Crockware pitcher probably dates to the 1880’s-1890’s. Pitcher reads, Kirk, Foster & Co. Wholesale Grocers & Importers Philadelphia. On the front side. Crock pitcher is marked by the maker on the bottom, Burley Winter Pottery Co. Out of Crooksville, Ohio which started operation in 1872. Pitcher has a crack that goes down one entire side and through part of the bottom and some small chips on one side of the spout. It still displays fantastically though. It measures about 8″ tall by about 5″ in diameter at top opening. Please see pictures for design and condition detail. Weighs over 3.5 lbs.
