Richie & Hamilton Palatine WV Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock withCobalt Stencil
Up for sale is this antique Richie & Hamilton, Palatine WV salt glazed stoneware crock jar from the 1870-80’s. It’s in “as is, as found, as photographed, ” what you see is what you get condition. The surface is very shiny and the cobalt decoration is bright blue. This crock has been used and shows its age. There is a chip on the inner ring as well as some flea bites. There is a “T” shaped hairline on the front bottom, spreading from a crack on the bottom. There is missing clay in the crack. My photos show exactly what I’m trying to describe. The crock measures 10 3/4″ high, 5″ across the top, 6 1/2 across the bottom. It weighs approximately 5 lb. Despite the defects, this piece still displays beautifully and would be a great addition to someone’s collection or primitive home decor. I hope someone will enjoy it.
