Small Size A. J. Butler Manufacturer New Brunswick NJ Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug
This sale features a salt glazed, about one quart, wheel thrown, stoneware jug, that stands 6½ inches tall and is 4 5/8 wide at the base. A very nice size jug in excellent condition that is a best possible example. It has an applied handle, orange peel textured glaze, an evenly applied stamp and is c1865-80. I’ve owned a lot of New Brunswick, NJ stoneware over the years and this is one of the nicest pieces I’ve seen, it has all of the bells & whistles except for that splash of blue.
