Scarce Antique English pottery figure of a lion in saltglaze earthenware. This large decorative figure has a flat back and was most likely intended for use on a grand mantlepiece or as a decorative piece on a piece of furniture which stood against a wall. The figure is attributed to the Briddon Pottery of Brampton in Derbyshire England c. Measures 16 3/4″ long x 2 1/2″ deep x 8 3/4 high, weighs 11 lbs and is in overall Exceptional antique condition, the mane appears to show a professional restoration and has been repainted as well as a few very tiny nicks and possible touch ups to the edges, not uncommon for a piece of this age, please see all photos.
