Pictured is an early salt glazed stoneware blue decorated butter crock offered for sale. Crock is stenciled in blue HICKORY GROVE FARM — CRYSTAL CREAMERY — THEO. Measures 5 1/5″ in height, 6 7/8″ in diameter, & dates from 1870 – 1895. There is a faint thru. Hairline at the rim measuring 4″ on the interior side & 2″ on the exterior side. Both are difficult to see without bright light & the right angle. No nicks, no repairs. Note: The two streaks at the base are inmanufacture. I was unable to picture the interior side line due to the dark glaze.
