(1880 1895) BLUE BLACK & WHITE Spongeware Wash Basin Bowl Stoneware Sponged
Pictured is an early sponged-decorated spongeware wash basin bowl offered for sale. The bowl is uncommonly sponged in both blue & black. The later can also be described as a dark greenish grey much like “dirty wash water”. The bowl is relatively deep and measures 4″ in height, 11 7/8″ in diameter, & dates from 1880 – 1895. It’s in superb condition with no repairs as well. Note: Wash basin bowls typically took a lot of use & abuse. More often, they are found with major damage and wear!
