Antique Fine Maccoboy Snuff Jar Stoneware Crock Stencil Gray PA US Pennsylvania
Approximately 9 1/2″ tall with an about 4 3/4″ mouth, condition is good with no apparent cracks. The piece includes what looks like the original lid. Some scuffs and scratches to the gray glazing, and the lid and inside rim have some chips. The Maccoboy stencil is in good condition. Maccoboy made snuff crocks and other products in Western Pennsylvania in the 1800s and on. I couldn’t find when they no longer made stoneware jars but it seems the snuff itself is still being made.
