Description : A 19thC decorated Stoneware Pantry or Storage Jar, PA or Mid-Atlantic origin, c. Wheel-thrown, cylindrical form with eased shoulder and tooled, flattened rim. Note the recessed groove at the collar where a cloth or waxed paper cover could be securely fastened with twine. Decorated on the body with (3) graduated fern or feather-like Swag decorations in bold, Brushed Cobalt. Condition : Very Good+ with desirable size, attractive form and strong color. Minor imperfections are noted below. Rim is has utilitarian perimeter wear including two shallow chips, as shown. Body is very clean with typical glaze, surface and firing imperfections, in-the-making. No cracks, repaired damage or other excuses. See photos for complete details and close-ups.
