RARE 3 GALLON O. BALLARD BURLINGTON, VERMONT DECORATED SALT GLAZED STONEWARE HANDLED JUG, W/SINGLE FLOWER BLUE SLIP GLAZE MOTIF. Mid-19th c American decorated stoneware. 16″ Height x 9 ½” Width. Good to Very Good overall antique condition. There are 2 slight episodes of loss at the top of the stoneware jug’s rim and a’touch’ and some slight loss at the turn of the slab constructed handle. As far as damage goes, that’s it. There are no hairline cracks, other loss or issues with the jug. The single flower blue slip glaze decorative motif is very rare and unusual, making this mid-19th century antique American 3 gallon decorated stoneware jug, very scarce and very rare, indeed. Wonderful surfaces and classic form make this a terrific piece of Americana and a choice primitive. Found in northern Massachusetts.
