Late 19th Century Chinese Oil Jug, 13 Tall Glazed Antique Martaban Stoneware
This is a beautifully crafted Chinese Martaban oil jug from the late 19th century est. It has a spout, handle, and beautiful detail work around the mouth. Please see photos for close ups of the details of the piece and teal glaze. It’s a sizable piece, with a height of 13.5″ and a diameter of 11″ (at widest point), weighing 11.58 lbs (5.25 kg). There is some chipping on the spout, as shown in the close-up photos, but no other noted chips, cracks, or damage. It’s a really lovely addition to display or for a collection. To be fully transparent, who verified the authenticity and age of this piece, as I do not have extensive knowledge of this type of stoneware.
