Antique Staffordshire Gaudy Dutch Imari w Gold Cheese Dish Dome w Underplate. A rare piece in this English cheese dish! Pattern is a Gaudy Dutch or Gaudy Welsch. Not sure if this pattern has a name. Cobalt blues, iron red with peach and gold. It is similar to Ridgway’s “Derby” pattern. The body is a heavy ironstone type. Thick and substantial dome. Measures 9 inches in height. The base plate is 8 3/4 inch diameter. The dome itself on the bottom is 6 1/2 inches across. Condition is good with no chips or cracks. The dome is in very good condition. The base plate has substantial darkening and discoloration. Both pieces have crazing all over. Gold loss on brown rim of underplate and the finial. The pattern is beautiful.
