Description: 1830s Henry Remmey Sr Philadelphia, PA Salt Glazed Stoneware 1.5 Gal Cake Crock. Fine 1/1.5 gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr. Philadelphia, PA, circa 1830, cylindrical crock with squared rim, applied lug handles, and heavy incised banding to shoulder, decorated on the front and reverse with an unusual brushed design of s linked leafy stems bearing bunches of grapes. Leafy brushwork below handles. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Measurements: Approximately 9″ at its widest, 6 3/4″ opening, 4 1/2 tall. Condition: Excellent vintage, preowned, used, as found condition. Six small rim edge chips and surface pot stone (Photos #5, #6, #7, #8, #9). Some very minor wear to cobalt blue.
