Very excited to offer this AAFA super rare small 1/2 gallon size blue & white spongeware decorated Grandmother’s Maple Syrup Jug with bail handle in very good condition. It features white Bristol slip glaze with uniform blue sponging throughout, pour spout and back thumb grip. It is signed in raised lettering on the bottom Mfgd. Weeks, Akron, Ohio XXX Jug Patent Apld. In the late 1800’s early 1900’s, these maple syrup jugs were produced by Weeks Pottery in 3 different sizes… I believe this one to be the middle size. Pictures #4 & 5 show 2 tiny flea bites both on the spout and thumb grip and there is a small repair to the bottom front of the piece (pictured in #7) which you would never know was there unless viewed under black light. Otherwise, it remains structurally sound with no other chips, breaks, cracks or hairlines including the 2 raised ears on which the wire bail handle is attached. The piece shows the usual stoneware firing imperfections and anomalies. It measures 5 1/4″ in diameter X 6 1/4″ high not including the handle. This is an absolutely wonderful blue piece to add to anyone’s collection! It will be packaged securely and double boxed for safety. I try my best to accurately and honestly describe all my items noting any imperfections or defects. It is your responsibility to ask questions. Thank you for your interest. The item “AAFA LATE 1800’S BLUE/WHITE SPONGEWARE DECORATED GRANDMOTHER’S MAPLE SYRUP JUG” is in sale since Sunday, April 18, 2021. This item is in the category “Antiques\Primitives”.
