RARE FRANS WILDENHAIN Stoneware Vase, Yellow & Brown, BAUHAUS Trained Ceramicist Potter, Archive at Rochester Institute of Technology-Retrospective in 2012; Pond Farm, Guerneville, CA. American Arts & Crafts Pottery, Ceramics. Frans Wildenhain was born in Leipzig, Germany in 1908 and died in 1980 in Rochester, New York. He was trained in 1924 at the Bauhaus. Wildenhain is a well known ceramicist or potter and he had a retrospective at the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2012 due to a major donation by Robert Bradley Johnson. Wildenhain’s wife Marguerite was also a well known ceramicist and they both emigrated to Pond Farm in Guerneville, California in 1947. Wildenhain taught for many years at RIT at the School of American Crafts. Additional details can be found if you google his name. His works are held by many museums and institutions including the Smithsonian. Size: 6″ tall, 3″ wide base. Color: Brown stoneware, yellow top accented with blue underneath (see pics). Date: Exact age is unknown, most likely mid 20th century. Condition: appears to be in very good condition, I did not see any cracks or other flaws. Comments and questions are always welcome.
