This great looking Strasburg ovoid jug is rarely seen three-quarter-gallon size. Only a master potter could have made this jug with its great form, nice symmetry, and neck-less flared mouth. This ovoid jug has a stout, “squat” appearance. It has two chips on the base, one glazed over and one under the jug. There are clear factory shrinkage cracks that separated the glaze at each end of the applied handle. The “cracks” are shallow and don’t go into the handle. Zoom in the pictures to see the glaze breaks. I try to show everything I know about anything I sell. It also has glaze pops expected in stoneware of its age (See photos for details). A few glazing misfires. Give this early Shenandoah Valley jug a beautiful, rustic appeal. Jug is 8.5-inches height by 6. It has a single. Wire pulled loop cut base and weighs 3- pounds ten- ounces. A three-quarter-gallon salt glaze pre-1850s jug is a rare find, and its good condition and outstanding glaze makes it more collectible. This is the first time this jug has been listed for sale, and it could be a great addition to a collection, a superb. I describe every item as well as I can but remember that the photos are part of the description. I will do everything I can to resolve any issues. I have more great antique and vintage stoneware, pottery, and other items listed and being listed as time allows, so please check back.
