Antique Merkelbach & Wick Germany Salt Glazed Stoneware Vase Urn 1879-1921 16

This striking example of excellent salt glazed pottery from Germany was made by Merkelbach & Wick in the period of 1879 to 1921 based on the mark. The artwork around the side of the vase has representations of classical Greek and Roman mythology and the overall creation is of great detail and blue and gray color contrast. It measures 16 1/4″ tall, 9″ handle to handle, diameter of the rim is 5″, the base measures 5 1/4″ in diameter and it weighs 6 pounds, 4 ounces. It is in very fine condition with one chip on the base that has been repaired and several small marks on one side (see photos).
