Pictured is a beautiful and very scarce blue & white stoneware embossed “Cows & Fence” butter crock for sale. Measures about 4.5″ in height and 7″ in diameter/width. Dates from 1905 – 1925. A valuable piece; the front side features the cobalt-accented word “Butter”, framed by a cow on each side ; and on the back, a fence framed by a cow on each side. Leaf and cornflower bands provide a border on the top and bottom, which is repeated on the lid; brilliant color; recessed button lid fits securely over unglazed raised ring for holding lid at top of crock body, note… As in their natural habitat, the cows are following one behind the other in the same direction all around the crock. The mold lines are well articulated, sharp and crisp. With its original lid and bail handle.
