Pictured is a barrel-shaped spice jar marked Ginger. The bluish-grey jar originally was produced by the Whitmore & Robinson, Co. Which became Robinson Clay Products Co. (RCPC) in 1900 located in Akron, Ohio. It measures 6 in overall height. The jar has a few manufacturing flaws, as was common during this period. The mold was overfilled, causing fins at the 2 mold seams on the side of the jar. Normally, these would have been removed before glazing and firing. That was not done in this case. There are a few flakes on these fins, which would be expected since they are very thin. There is also a small irregularity on the knopf, as made. There are no cracks, hairlines, or chips to the body of the jar or the lid. Please look at all of the pictures. Feel free to contact me with questions or request additional pictures. FYI: There are perhaps as many as twelve (12) different large canisters & six (6) smaller covered spice jars. The spice jars are very hard to find.
