Beautiful Stoneware Storage Jar, Original Lid, Shiny Alkaline Glaze Perfect Cond
This is a beautifully formed antique storage jar with its original lid. It has a well-balanced, symmetrical body, applied lug handles, a fully rounded flared collar and the lid has a nice finial. It stands 10-inches height with a 7.5-inches diameter body that tapers to a 5-inch diameter base. The gorgeous glaze is a shiny alkaline brown with nice drip effects. This wonderful piece has no chips, cracks, or restorations. I attribute this outstanding jar to Georgia, eastern Alabama, or the Carolinas. It could be a powerful addition to a collection or a stunning, and usable, “vanity” piece that would highlight any room. It weighs 4 lbs. This is the first time this fantastic stoneware jar has been listed for sale and its stately profile would make it an eye catcher in any room.
