Up for sale is this nice antique 19thC stoneware cooler with a nice pertruding spout. This piece was likely made by J. Hickerson of Strasburg, Va around 1880. Very few coolers of this form from the Valley survive and continue to be a rare and desired form that is often not seen in the Valley and is considered rare. The neat feature to this piece is the capacity stamp of “2” is actually free handed into the top of the rim and is not a stamp as we usually see.
