Pictured is a novel & infrequently seen blue spongeware pitcher available for sale. The early bulbous, ovoid pitcher has a small pinched spout & an uncommon twig handle. The pitcher measures 8 1/4 in height & dates from 1880 – 1915, or slightly earlier. It’s in excellent condition with a few pin head size nicks to the body & the rim. This particular form of pitcher has been attributed to the mid Atlantic area, more specifically, eastern PA, Maryland & the Virginia area.
