Pictured is an early redware apple butter crock offered for sale. The crock is overglazed in a dark brown manganese glaze. It has a great plump, ovoid shape & form and a wide 3/8 brim. The underside is incised C. LINK – EXETER PA. It measures 3 3/4″ in height, 2 1/2″ in base diameter, & dates from 1835 – 1865. There are three (3) shallow flakes or slivers on the underside rim.
