Strasburg VA Crock Multi-Glaze Egg Cup Attributed to J. Eberley or S Bell & Sons
It is a vintage piece probably made around the end of the 1880’s or early 1990’s. I would attribute it to either S. Bell and Sons or J. It is NOT a reproduction. The glaze colors are really nice. It is slightly over 3 1/2 inches tall, 3 1/4 inches across the bottom and the opening in the top is 2 inches. They must have been eating goose eggs because that 2 inch opening would take a large egg. It is the largest egg cup I have seen. It is in decent condition with no cracks. It does have the normal crazing to the glaze and several chips of the glaze. The worst chip is the one to the clay at the bottom rim that is glazed over, so should have been done in the making of it. Overall a nice original piece to add to your collection.
