Good to very good overall condition for this antique, c 1850s 1860s mildly ovoid stoneware jug made by AO Whittemore, Havana, NY. It is a 2 gallon putty white jug marked with the maker’s impressed name and location and has a finely painted blue slip floral decoration. It is in fine original condition except for an old hairline near the bottom edge that appears to be very stable. The top frnt sidewall shoulder’s stmpd w/a clear, crisp mkr’s mrk,’A. Whittemore, Havana, NY,’ dec w/blue slip. There are no flea-bites anywhere. The maker is a rare one, the form graceful and appealing, and the blue slip decoration great.
