(1870 95) Blue & White Sponged Spatterware Water Pitcher Stoneware Spongeware
Pictured is a beautiful, attractive blue & white sponged spatterware pitcher offered for sale. The sponged decoration, also known as Flowing Spatterware, is a deep, rich cobalt blue & has great color contrast & eye-appeal. The brim is scalloped & the shoulder and the base are embossed with an elaborate scroll design. It measures 7 7/8″ in height, 3 7/8″ in base diameter, & dates from 1870 – 1885. It’s in near mint condition with a small shallow flake at the base below the handle & a 1 1/4 flake on the underside footer seen at 3 o’clock. No hairlines, no repairs.
