FOLK ART WHIMSY 5 1/4 ILL/OH Blue Decorated Stoneware Shoe Slipper
Pictured is a unique small miniature stoneware figural shoe or slipper available for sale. The folk art whimsy is. Overglazed with a white Bristol glaze & is decorated with a thick blue rim, eyelets, & “pinwheels” on either side. The tip of the slipper & the heel are highlighted with a light tan glaze. It measures 2 1/2″ in height, 5 1/4″ in length. & dates from 1895 – 1920. The slipper is in excellent condition with a short, faint spider hairline near the backside. & a small flake on the underside of the heel, see pic. The shallow small flake alongside the tip of the slipper. Touch mark & is inmanufacturing. Attributed to the northern Illinois or to the southeastern Ohio area.
