We are pleased to offer for your Consideration this antique pottery casserole dish. This type of baking dish was used for making for making au gratin potatoes, vegetables or meat. It was made to go from the oven to the table top. This particular one was found in Belgium but most likely made in France. It was hand fashioned and has all the lovely irregularities that come with that form of pottery making. It is not cracked or repaired anywhere. There is minimal glaze loss for its age. It is a phenomenal example of one of the favorite pottery forms Of historic France. They loved making duck and bird dishes combined with potatoes and onions. Made in the late 1700s to early 1800s it has beautiful crazing, incredible texture in the glazing, and outstanding color as it changes from a light yellow to deep brown. This would be an exceptional display piece, it has all the rustic charm of the French countryside. This has been it’s the same family for generations and is now up for offer for a new family.
