This is a very attractive small round teapot with a press-molded “Leaf” design with a matching lid, Four Lion’s head feet, a shaped spout and an applied handle. This is a very early salt glaze stoneware footed teapot. The early manufacture can be seen with the manufacturing flaws to the salt glaze stoneware body. DIMENSIONS: The teapot is 4 3/4 H. X 4 1/16 Dia. X 6 7/8 L. From the tip of the spout to the back of the handle. CONDITION: The condition is very good for the age and rarity with an old repair to the tip of the spout. There are also several thin tight hairline cracks to the rim. There is also some light overall staining to the body. For a rare 280 year old teapot this outstanding condition!
