RARE MID-LATE 19TH CENTURY AME RI CAN ANTIQUE J. BUDLONG & SON TWO QUART COBALT BLUE STAMPED. SALT GLAZED, HANDLED, ONE GALLON STONEWARE CERAMIC JUG. Mid-late 19th century Ame ri can antique decorated stoneware ceramic jugs & crocks. 9 14″ Height x 6 12″ Width. There are two minor nicks or’flea-bites’ on the back sidewall of the ceramic handled jug, one is on top of the rim and the other is on the bottom edge. The stoneware ceramic jug is otherwise clean and its condition is consistent and commensurate with other mid to late 19th century Ame ri can antique stoneware jugs and crocks its age and with its antique pedigree. The sidewalls of the stoneware ceramic jug have great salt glazed variegated putty white color, with episodes of burnt sienna and burnt umber appearing on its sidewalls. There are no hairline cracks, sidewall or pouring spout ceramic blow-outs, significant abrasions or other damage which mars this otherwise magnificent early piece of Rhode Island salt glazed and decorated stoneware.
