Very rare, English Salt Glazed Stoneware Toby Jug depicting King George III holding a Jug of Ale. Attributed to Brampton Pottery circa 1840 or earlier. Made in Derbyshire, United Kingdom. Found in a Barn at an Estate Sale in Illinois, the Jug has amazing detail and color. The hard to find, usually missing Hat that was found with it had problems in manufacturing and has fired on Salt Crystals I could was not able to remove. It is complete, with a faint hairline visible on inside. Maybe it can be removed somehow or keep it as found. The imposing jug has very fine detail. Size: Jug is 10 3/4″ high without hat, 11 1/4″ with hat. X 6″ wide x 8″ deep. Weighs 5 7/8 lbs. Condition: The Jug is near Mint. Two tiny shallow fleabite rimflakes were invisibly restored on side of left side of hat. There are no hairlines or other problems. The Hat Stopper is AsFound, with fired on Salt Crystals, that may possibly be removed.
