EZRA FERRIS Antique Stoneware Beer Bottle Cobalt Blue Shoulder & Top c. 1860s

This is a 1860’s Ezra Ferris Stoneware Bottle made by him in Glen Falls, NY. It measures 10″ tall and the base measures 4″ in diameter. The blob top tilts a bit to the right which many did in the earliest days of hand manufactured clay bottles. The top and full shoulder of the bottle are cobalt blue with a small streak at the base below where his name is impressed, E. The bottle has no cracks in it and is solid. It has been in my family for the past 50+ years on display only in an antique hutch with many other similar antique stoneware bottles. I have included a closeup picture of the open top as you can see a couple of spots of very slight wear (full disclosure). These are not chips but years of wear of removing and inserting a cork to fill and remove, etc. I have also shown the base of the bottle which does have a couple of chips, not uncommon for a bottle that is over 160 years old. They don’t take away from the beauty of this nor the stability of it in any way. This is an antique and it is truly a rare and beautiful piece. Thank you for your interest and have a great day.
