Description : A pair of Early American Salt-Glazed Stoneware Inkwells, Northeastern US origin, c. Larger example with central well opening and three pierced holes to hold quills. Measures approximately 3W x 1-1/4H overall. Roughly the same size as a hockey puck. Smaller example with interring chamfered upper edge forming a 10-sided appearance. There are faint cobalt highlights on each edge of the decagon. Measures only 2W x 3/4H overall. Rare form and charming size. Condition : Both show general wear, soiling and shallow chips/flakes, as shown. They have not been cleaned. Inherent glaze, surface and firing imperfections, including contact marks, noted for complete descriptive accuracy. No cracks, repaired damage or restoration work.
