Georgia Stoneware Folk Pottery Marked CS Kline Howells Mills.. The exterior is a greenish gray salt glaze and the inside glaze is a smooth glassy glaze , probably Albany slip and finely ground Coke bottles. There are kiln drips aka turkey droppings at various spots and the wheel must have wobbled creating an interesting pattern in the body. A decorative line is at the shoulder and the collar has a unique flair where it meets the body. There is a “3” stamped on the shoulder and “CS Kline, Howells Mills Ga” is clearly stamped on the collar/rim. There are opposing lug handles, with the minor knicks associated with everyday use. The lip has similar knicks, with one chip the size of a thumbnail. Otherwise there are no cracks, holes or hairlines. It stands 13″ and is 9 3/8″ inches across the base. I rate it in very good original used condition. A great piece to add to your Georgia collection! Be sure to see my other fine stoneware!
