An antique French confit pot from Gascony. Although it is impossible to know its exact age, this shape of pot was commonly made around 1850s. It is earthenware, designed for preserving food indoors. The warm red half-glaze and two-handled shape dates back to a time when each village that was lucky enough to have a kiln had its own distinctive style of production. Even then, no two pots are the same. We have three of these pots in stock and all three came from the same owner. From our home in the French alps to yours.
