Rare Modernist Art Deco pottery stoneware lamp skyscraper olympics architecture
Very interesting hand modeled stoneware lamp base with 4 art deco architectural panels which are hard to explain. Figure bearing torch could indicate an olympic context. Worlds fair or exhibition? I dont know and i cant find another one. Stylized buildings with owl reminiscent of the spirit of modernism. Looks like 1920s or 30s. Measures 19 1/2 inches to the finial and just the ceramic portion measures 10 inches tall. A couple base chips and cracks and chip to the mansard roof. Beautiful light blue glaze.
