Decorated stoneware Flask Cobalt Blue Tobacco plant 1850 James river Virginia
A very nice southern made stoneware flask with cobalt blue Tobacco plant decoration on 4 sides. This flask measures 7 1/4 inches tall. It is round on the sides but flattened in the front and back sides. It measures 4 1/4 inches wide and is about 2 1/2 inches thick. It has a tapered mouth with 6 tooling rings below. It has no cracks. It does have a shallow chip on front side visible in my second photo. The base has a shallow chip on foot edge. It is visible in my 8th photo. Also on the bottom edge a is shallow flake visible in my last photo. A few other irregularities common on this type of early ware. Posssibly used in the Civil war.
