Stoneware Cobalt Decorated Antique Small 1/2 Quart Pitcher Southern Folk Pottery. The piece came from a collection of late 19th through mid-20th century stoneware curated by a Shenandoah Valley, Virginia family. The piece is well executed in a traditional Valley form with clean lines to the tapered neck, finger ridged mouth / top rim and loop handle. The stoneware body shows subtle throwing lines on both the exterior and interior. The gray salt glaze exterior finish shows nice depth with orange peel appearance consistent over the surface (the interior done in Albany slip) please refer to the pics. The cobalt blue highlights are strong on both the face and lower handle attachment. The unique sized pitcher measures 5 ½” high, 5 ½” from spout to handle and 4 deep (roughly 2.5 cups / 1/2 quart). The piece is in excellent condition with no damage, there is some fine crazing at the interior and some pictured mottling to the surface. This handsome pitcher would make a nice addition to your collection of vintage Southern Cobalt Decorated Stoneware. Get Supersized Images & Free Image Hosting. Create your brand with Auctiva’s.
