ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY SALT GLAZED GERMAN WESTERWALD STONEWARE CROCK JAR COBALT BLUE. The featured item represents a late 19th century hand turned German Westerwald salt glazed stoneware jar/pot that measures approximately 7 1/4-7 1/2″ tall, 6 3/8-6 1/2″ across the top and 5 1/8 in diameter at the base. The piece has an irregular ovoid form and two applied upturned lug handles at the shoulder. It is decorated with underglaze cobalt blue scrolls/stylized flowers and banding as well as the initials TN/NT under one of the handles. The item comes in overall good condition for its age with no major damages found but normal vintage wear. There are quite a few production flaws and imperfections due to the hand made nature.
