For Sale is an Antique Stoneware, Small Salt-glazed Jar, stamped with “Tode Bros 272 Bowery New York” that’s been highlighted in blue. My understanding, from seeing similar items in a couple other online auctions, is that this jar was made somewhere around 1860. Another example of this jar had a paper label attached saying it held caviar. The jar is in excellent shape, no visible cracks or dings, though there is some wear around the rim, and there are glazing and finishing imperfections that you might expect on a jar made about 150 years ago. The bottom of the jar looks to have a makers mark of an arrow with a circle and “TB” inside the circle. The jar is about 4-1/4″ tall and has a bottom diameter of about 3-1/4″, while the opening of the jar has a diameter just under 2-1/2. I’m not able to guarantee its authenticity, however everything about the jar looks right to me and is similar to other ones online so it seems very legitimate. Thank you for looking!
