Rare Antique Americana Yellow Ware Pottery Sheep Lamb Coin Still Bank Folk Art
RARE ANTIQUE YELLOW WARE STONE WARE SHEEP FIGURINE COIN BANK. The featured item represents a small pottery coin bank that measures approximately 3 1/4″ from the floor to the tallest point, 4 1/4″ at the longest points and 1 3/4 at the widest points. The bank is molded in the shape of a lamb or a sheep with a coin slot on the back, wearing a bell on the neck and standing on a oval base with grass decoration. Glazed in yellow with brown spots on the sides and the years and green on the grass. The eyes are painted in black. It appears to heave identical or very similar mold but the yellow is more bright, the brown runs down the legs and some splashes on the side of the base and the green is also a different hue. The exact region of manufacturing is not confirmed but a good possibility is Shenandoah Valley. The item comes in well-preserved condition for its age with no major damages found. There is normal wear like some scuffs, marks and scratches and a small chip on the bottom rim. Aside that, some production flaws and imperfections.
