ANTIQUE FLEMISH BLUE GRAY SALT GLAZE STONEWARE SYRUP PITCHER – CHILDREN AND DOG. A charming example of a White’s Utica salt glaze cobalt blue & gray stoneware pewter lidded syrup pitcher with cobalt embellishments accenting the portraits of a dog with children playing or working to move a log by pulling it with a rope on one end, and pushing it from behind on the other. Outstanding images and in fine condition with no hairlines or damage otherwise. Unsigned, but it is attributed to White’s Utica of New York. Noah White began making pottery wares for several local firms in Utica, New York, circa mid 1830’s and he bought out Addington Pottery and began making stoneware on his own with the assistance of his son. Another son joined the family firm in later years. Eventually after many years of success, the company’s final days came in 1907. A very nice east coast pottery piece for your display or collection and one that is very difficult to find! Measures in at about 5 tall. Ask questions if you have them.
