Rare Salt Glazed Stoneware 2 Gal. Jug Cobalt Stencil Elmira NY
Here’s a rare find its the earliest version of the John M. ConnellyElmira NY stoneware jug in the 2 gallon size. This jug is salt glazed with a interesting lighter stripe in the stoneware up along the top of the jug giving it a great distinctive look. The jug is in very good condition, one tiny line on side is the only possible flaw (see photo). The line does not look like a crack more like a crazing in the salt glaze. Its totally stable and just mentioned as a possible flaw for full disclosure. The Cobalt stenciling is great (see photo’s). Jug measures 13-3/4″ tall by 8″wide across the base.
